Cornerstone Roofing FAQWelcome to the Cornerstone Roofing Client Portal. Please view our answers to Frequently Asked Questions in three phases below (Contract Signing, Re-Roof Production Schedule, and After Roof Care). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your estimator. We appreciate your business and look forward to working with you!
Phase 1 FAQ:
CONTRACT SIGNING
HOW DO I CALCULATE MY SALES TAX RATE?
You may use the Department of Revenue’s Tax Rate Lookup Tool to find the sales tax rate at your specific property address. Input your property address and click “Search / Calculate”. It is optional to input the taxable amount to get an exact dollar amount. If a permit fee is required for your project, the fee is not taxable and would be listed on your final invoice.
WHAT IS THE “NOTICE TO CUSTOMER” DOCUMENT?
In addition to signing your contract, there is a document titled “Notice to Customer”. This document is required by Washington State for all projects over $1,000. Please sign and date this document and return to your estimator with your signed contract documents. The document informs you that Cornerstone Roofing is a licensed, bonded, insured contractor and explains your rights with regards to payment and liens.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED A PERMIT?
Cornerstone Roofing’s Production Coordinator will check with your local authorities to determine if a permit is required. If a permit is required, we will register for it on your behalf, post it to your job site, and schedule any required inspections. The permit fee will be listed on your final invoice. The permit cost is determined by the city or county that you live in.
HOW MUCH OF A DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED?
A 20% Deposit is due at the time of contract signing via check, credit card, or ACH. Checks are payable to Cornerstone Roofing, Inc. and can be hand delivered Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or mailed to our office at 8805 206th Street SE, Snohomish, WA 98296. If you prefer to pay via credit card, a 2.5% Credit Card fee applies, and you may pay in person or call our office at 425-485-0111 to pay over the phone. If you would like to pay via ACH, your estimator will be happy to send you the instructions for the wire transfer.
WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT TERMS?
We will send you an invoice upon substantial completion of your roofing project. Payment is due upon receipt of the invoice within 7 days. We accept payment by check, ACH, and credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover; a 2.5% surcharge applies to all credit card transactions). Or you may be eligible for one of our financing programs (On Approval of Credit; see below). No discounts can be applied when financing. Please note, payment via Online Bill Pay does not arrive within the 7 day payment terms.

Phase 2 FAQ:
RE-ROOF PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
HOW IS MY PROJECT SCHEDULED?
Once your estimator receives your 20% deposit via check or credit card (a 2.5% surcharge applies), along with your signed contract and “Notice to Customer” document (can be sent via email, mail, or fax), your estimator will turn your file over to our Production Coordinator Kristy to schedule your roofing project. You will receive an email from Kristy confirming the start date of your project (all schedule dates are pending weather, schedule, and manpower delays). These emails are sent once a week following our weekly scheduling meeting, usually held on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY “PRE-JOB LETTER” TO READ?
Two weeks prior to your job, you will receive an email from our Production Coordinator Kristy Hoff (kristy@cornerstoneroofing.com) with your Pre-Job Letter from our Operations Manager Craig Miser. Please read this prior to us beginning work on your roof. Our Operations Manager Craig is available on his direct line at 206-786-5241 or via email at craig@cornerstoneroofing.com to answer any questions or concerns you may have throughout the re-roofing process.
AFTER I RECEIVE MY SCHEDULE DATE AND PRE-JOB LETTER, WHEN WILL I NEXT BE CONTACTED BEFORE MY JOB STARTS?
1-2 business days prior to your start date, our Operations Manager Craig Miser will give you a call to let you know when to expect the materials, dumpster/ dump truck, and crew to arrive and inform you of any schedule or weather related changes or delays. Please feel free to ask Craig any job related questions you may have at this time.
DO I NEED TO BE HOME DURING MY ROOFING PROJECT?
You do not need to be home during your re-roofing project and do not recommend taking time off of work as weather, schedule, or manpower delays may affect your start date and length of your project. If you will not be home, please let our Operations Manager Craig Miser know if there is outside access to power.
Please know you will not have driveway access during your project and we will need your cars out of the garage and driveway the day prior to the materials/ dumpster being delivered. We will do a daily cleanup each night, however the final cleanup and magnetic sweep of nails will occur once the roof has been completed. To prevent any flat tires during the duration of the re-roofing process, please do not return your cars to the driveway/ garage until the final cleanup is finished. If you have any questions on this, please contact Craig Miser at 206-786-5241.
Phase 3 FAQ:
AFTER THE ROOF INSTALLATION
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY NEW ROOF IS INSTALLED?
When the shingling on your new roof has been completed, your home will be protected from the elements and weather tight. We will return shortly to pick up any remaining materials, perform a final clean-up, execute any final detail work on the roof, and complete a Quality Control Inspection.
If you have any questions in the interim, please call our Operations Manager Craig Miser at 206-786-5241.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY INVOICE DOCUMENTS?
Once the Quality Control Inspection is complete, your final invoice documents will be emailed to you (includes your invoice, lien release, and workmanship warranty). A hard copy is available upon request.
We offer several ways to pay:
- For credit cards, we accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. A 2.5% surcharge applies to all credit card transactions. If you would like to pay your invoice via credit card, please call our office at (425) 485-0111 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday with your credit card information. For your safety and security, please do not forward credit card information by email. Or, you may pay with a credit card in person at our office at 8805 206th Street SE, Snohomish, WA 98296.
- If you prefer to pay by check, you may mail or drop off a check at our office (address and hours noted above).
- If financing through EnerBank USA: Our CEO Bill Sullivan will submit your final invoice to EnerBank USA (you will receive a copy via email), and EnerBank will be in touch with your “Payment Authorization Form” to sign. Once you have signed the customer portion, we will get an alert from EnerBank USA to login and electronically sign the contractor’s portion. EnerBank will then process the loan and be in touch with your welcome paperwork.
If your contract includes the CertainTeed SureStart PLUS Five Star extended warranty: we will register for your warranty with CertainTeed upon completion of the project. CertainTeed will process your warranty certificate and mail it from their corporate headquarters within usually 3 -6 weeks.
If you requested a lien release from the supplier at time of contract signing, we will request the lien release from the supplier upon completion of the project. The supplier will mail the original lien release to you from their corporate headquarters. We will have an electronic copy saved in your file should you need one. The lien release from Cornerstone Roofing will be included in your invoice documents.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW ROOF?
As with any roof, you will need to perform periodic maintenance. The manufacturer’s warranty requires you to keep debris from building up on your roof (leaves, pine needles and other organic debris). Most composition shingles are manufactured with an algae-resistant component in the granules and have a warranty against algae growth and discoloration. However, algae and moss are two different things. Algae is an air-borne spore that will grow on many things it lands on, including non-algae-resistant roofing. Moss, on the other hand, requires organic matter to grow and won’t grow on a shingle by itself. It grows on the dust, dirt, pine needles and other debris that settle on your roof over time. The only way to prevent moss growth is to periodically remove this debris. The amount and frequency of maintenance required can vary widely depending on several factors such as the age, location, orientation, slope and design of the roof; as well as the proximity, type, and size of any surrounding trees. We recommend starting with inspections and maintenance 1-2+ times per year and adjusting as needed. We recommend using compressed air or a good quality leaf blower to remove any debris. You can also use a garden hose with a nozzle. However, we do not recommend using any kind of pressure washer as this can easily damage your new roof and void the warranty. A moss treatment or moss inhibitor can also be applied.
Safety is always a major concern when working on any roof. If you decide to hire someone to clean your roof, make sure you are dealing with an experienced, reputable company that is licensed, bonded and insured.
Cornerstone Roofing also offers a Maintenance Program for any clients who would like their roof and gutter cleaning performed by Cornerstone Roofing. An overview of the program will be included in your final invoice documents upon completion of your project. Click here to view our Cornerstone Roofing Maintenance Program One Sheet.
